ACCIONA is one of only three Spanish companies in the list of the world’s most sustainable suppliers.
Grupo ACCIONA’s commitment to reducing CO2 emissions has been included once again in a new report: the CDP Supplier Climate Performance Leadership Index, which ranks the top 80 companies that supply products and services based on business models that produce low carbon emissions.
Since 2012, ACCIONA Producciones y Diseño has been developing carbon free events for their clients (www.eventossostenibles.com). An intent is made in these events to minimize CO2 emissions associated with their organization and celebration by implementing preventive and corrective measures, and then calculate the emissions generated that were impossible to avoid by purchasing and retiring the carbon offsets to neutralize them.
During 2013, 100% of the events organized by APD have been carbon free, which to date has meant avoiding almost 500 tons of CO2.
“Music Day 2012” is an outstanding example of these measures. The festival was organized by the company which last year won the “Golden Elephant” for Best European Sustainable Event in the European Best Events Awards and the “Bronze Medal” for Best Responsible Event in the Premios Eventoplus. For the event, APD designed and implemented a sustainable production plan destined to reduce environmental impact and compensate for unavoidable CO2 emissions.
APD has become a reference in the sector, not only for events like these, but also for its active participation in associations like GMIC (Global Meetings Industry Council), that promote economic, environmental and social sustainability of events worldwide. From January of this year, the company occupies the presidency of the Iberian Chapter of the GMIC which represents Spain and Portugal within the organization.
